MCTC Launches Onshore Training Services in India

MCTC has launched onshore training services in India to cater for its growing number of Indian trainees.

In addition to its onshore training facilities it already has in The Philippines, MCTC has now launched training for catering personnel in India who face many of the same challenges as Filipino seafarers, including time management and budget control.

MCTC has now launched the new service and has trialled a new system with one of its clients BW Fleet Management where it held Filipino cooking classes in India and Indian cooking classes in The Philippines.

Christian Ioannou, Managing Director of MCTC, said: “BW Fleet Management has one half of its crew as Filipino and the other half as Indian, so we trialled a new initiative with them where we asked our head training consultant from The Philippines to go over to India to teach Filipino cooking and vice versa.

“We are delighted to now be able to offer onshore training to our clients’ catering personnel in India.  As our client base increases we felt it was important to offer training in India as a lot of our clients have Indian crew.”

MCTC, based in Limassol, Cyprus, trains catering crews from all over the world in all types of cuisine, through onboard distance coaching and onshore programmes at its training establishment in Makati, The Philippines. It has recently introduced a new Catering Management service working with vessels in the procurement of provisions for the galley.
